“Sun Fook Kong Safety Awards Scheme 2014” Officially Launchedarrow
(Hong Kong, 6 January 2014) Sun Fook Kong held the opening ceremony of “Sun Fook Kong Safety Awards Scheme 2014” at the Gordon Wu Hall, B P International on 6 January. Over 400 staffs from Sun Fook Kong Project Management and Safety Department and contractors attended the event.
 
Mr. C.T. Chan, Director of Construction of the Group said during his opening speech, “Provision of a safe working environment for employees is not only a responsibility under the law, but also is our corporate social responsibility. It is also important for our Group to have good safety management and to care our staffs, so as to develop good business foundation and establish good reputation. “ 
 
Sun Fook Kong safety performance has been improved continuously, Mr. Eric Chau, Senior Safety Manager of the Group said, “In 2013, Sun Fook Kong had gained variety of awards for recognizing its safety and site cleanliness performance. Moreover, we are very encouraged by the results of 10 of our projects had been awarded in the “Caring Construction Site Award Scheme 2013” which was co-organized by Occupational Safety and Health Council and Labour Department. 
 
Following the opening ceremony of “Sun Fook Kong Safety Awards Scheme 2014”, around 50 awards were presented to the Year 2013 winners. “The Good Housekeeping Award” and “The Best Performance Project Safety Award” are two highlighted awards in this safety award scheme. The “Construction of a Station for the New Terminal Doppler Weather Radar at Tai Lam Chung” project winning the championship of “Good Housekeeping Award 2013”, while the “Kai Tak Development - Reconstruction and Upgrading of Kai Tak Nullah” project winning the championship of “The Best Performance Project Safety Award 2013”.
 
Moreover, there were total 105 contractors and 21 project teams being awarded in the “Zero Accident Award Scheme 2013”. The award was given to those who achieved zero accident frequent rate and with no reportable accident in 2013, and the number of winners had been surprised the senior management of the Group.
 
Besides, the result of the “Star Foreman Award Scheme 2013” was announced during the event. Within a total of 18 foremen, Mr. Choy Wai Kwai from the “Provision of Barrier-free Access for Highway Structures – Phase 3 Contract 1” project was the final winner of the Star Foreman Award, while the other 17 foreman receiving the Outstanding Foreman Award and the Star Foreman Award – Merit respectively. 
 
During the opening ceremony, the officiating guests had filled up the heart-shaped model on the stage by adding red sands into it, hoping that the heart of all senior management, staffs and contractors could be lightened up and worked close to create safety projects. In future, Sun Fook Kong will continue to enhance the safety awareness among its staffs and improve the work environment with a view to achieving zero accident in its construction sites.
