Sun Fook Kong’s Subsidiary Company Wins Contract for the Reconstruction and Upgrading Works at Kai Tak Nullaharrow
(Hong Kong, 7 February 2013) One of the subsidiary companies of Sun Fook Kong has been awarded a HK$1.9 billion contract by the Civil Engineering & Development Department for the reconstruction and upgrading of the approximately 1.3-kilometre-long Kai Tak Nullah, the construction of two desilting compounds and ancillary works including landscaping works and environmental mitigation measures. The project is due for completion in July 2017.

Kai Tak Nullah was built over 30 years ago with a total length of 2.4 kilometres, which 1.3 kilometer was within the Kai Tak Development Area. The end goal of the reconstruction and upgrading works is to improve the drainage capacity of Kai Tak Nullah and mitigate the flooding risk to its surrounding areas.

Other than improving the drainage capacity of the nullah and constructing two desilting compounds to enable the removal of the sediment accumulated along the drainage channel, the contract is also required to meet the environmental regulation and standards through carrying out different environmental mitigation measures and dust and noise control programs.

The Kai Tak Development Project is currently a major infrastructure project in Hong Kong while the reconstruction and upgrading works is one of the core parts of it. The Group will closely work with its client and consultant to ensure that the project could be completed in a safe, efficient and environmental friendly manner.
