“Love Is All Around” The 2nd Hong Kong Chinese & English Essay-Writing Competition Prize-Giving Ceremonyarrow
(Hong Kong, 11 January 2020) “Love Is All Around” The 2nd Hong Kong Chinese & English Essay-Writing Competition sponsored by Lu and Marisa Charitable Foundation, organized by Hong Kong Federation of Journalists and co-organized by Sun Fook Kong was completed successfully. On 11 January, the prize-giving ceremony was held in Renaissance Harbour View Hotel.

The challenge for participants this year was to write their thoughts of The Last Knit, a 6-minute-online animation by Finnish director Laura Neuvonen with over 10 million views online. The thought provoking video has captured the essence of life by depicting a character sitting at the edge of a cliff, restlessly knitting a scarf.

The response was overwhelming with the receipt of over 4,000 passages. The competition was divided into three categories including Primary School, Secondary School and Open Section and two divisions, the Chinese Division and the English Division in each category. It is hoped that the participants can express their views on the animation through writing, not only showing their talents. Winners in each division and category shared their feelings in the ceremony.

Mr. Tsang Yok Sing, GBS, JP, the Honorary Director of Organizing Committee, also the Former President of Legislative Council of Hong Kong, said that both the quantity and quality of the passages were found to be increased as compared with last year. He also said that the competition was held in such a hard time in Hong Kong. He believed love could solve problems and avoid violence. There were no boundaries for love.
