Fire Dragon Path in Tai Hang is Grand Openedarrow
(Hong Kong, 13 September 2012) Drainage Services Department, Wan Chai District Council, Wan Chai District Office, AECOM Asia Company Limited and Sun Fook Kong (Civil) Limited jointly held a ceremony for the “Improvement Works of the Nullah at Tai Hang and the Completion of Fire Dragon Path”. The ceremony was led by Mr. Tsui Wai, JP, Deputy Director of Drainage Services; Mr. Suen Kai-cheong, BBS, MH, JP, Chairman of Wan Chai District Council; Mr. Liu Chun-san, Principal Assistant Secretary for Development (Works) 2; Ms. Angela Luk, JP, District Officer (Wan Chai); Mr. Ho Choi-chiu, MH, President of Tai Hang Residents’ Welfare Association; Mr. David Lui, Regional Managing Director of AECOM Asia Company Limited; and Mr. Patrick Lee, Managing Director of Sun Fook Kong (Civil) Limited.

The HK$24 million project was commenced in 2009. The scope of works included decking the 250m Tai Hang Nullah, widening the old footpath and greening works along the widened footpath. “This project not only solved the odour problems of the old Nullah, but also provided a comfortable walking environment to our citizens,” Mr. Tsui Wai said during his opening speech.

The new footpath was specially named the Fire Dragon Path, Mr. Tsui Wai explained, “In the last year, the Fire Dragon Dance of Tai Hang at Mid-Autumn Festival has become part of the national intangible cultural heritage. So, we have named it as Fire Dragon Path to create a landmark with local characteristics for Tai Hang.”

The 3 years project was successfully completed. In the ceremony, a representative of Tai Hang Residents’ Welfare Association sincerely thanked Drainage Services Department, Wan Chai District Council, Sun Fook Kong and all related parties for building the Fire Dragon Path in Tai Hang which will bring great convenience to the Tai Hang residents.

The officiating guests held the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the event.
